Artwork Description

Acrylic on paper

Signed on the back.

I've become intrigued by the technique of sgraffito, which is more usually applied in ceramics when various tools are used to score the clay. It's fascinating to scrape through layers of paint, completely obscured by the final layer, and see what emerges as the composition is created. This is a dramatic piece, with all the chaos of the bush expressed in its gestural marks.
