Dulcie has painted Karlyapilyirra a site close to Pipaar, south of Balgo in the Great Sandy Desert. Central to the artwork is the the necessity of life in the desert - the waterhole. The white swirls indicate the saltpans, surrounded by sandhills (red radiating lines) that shift with the seasons, the light brown lines reference claypans. The black dotting shows the burning of country which generates regrowth and provides an abundance of food after the rains. Here, Duclie tells of her country, its heritage and its life giving gifts
