“The Azure Prince” is a slightly more detailed take on REK’s signature style - deconstructed realism. This piece introduces a softer and more detailed individualising of the Prince’s crown and beard feathers than seen in earlier work of the series.

The familiar fusion of high detail in the eyes and face of the subject remains true to the unmistakable REK style of wildlife painting.

Fine details progressively diminish into wide brush strokes and working sketch marks until the subject vanishes. This is the familiar commentary which has become the central theme in REK's recent work focusing on the threat Australian wildlife faces through habitat loss.

This work is stretched 100% cotton fabric over canvas - as the fabric wraps around the edges of the painting framing is not essential
