The textured grey canvas holds memories of the death of my mother in June last year. One year later this June, I placed the colours of joy, and release; of happiness that her soul no lon suff the constraints of her failing body. She loved water lilies that grew in my garden. It is an offering to her. Inner sanctuary outer turmoil My visit to Ankur Wat in Cambodia, led me to dance atop the magnificent structure. That memory of being surrounded by the sculptures of heavenly nymphs (apsaras) affected me deeply. The memory of that experience was the inspiration for this painting, the background of which was created while dancing.The painting expresses the feeling of deep inner Peace that is experienced in meditation.
