This floral still life explores the use of negative space and the layering of colours. It is unlike me to use so much pink in my work and I blame fellow artist and ceramicist Charlie Atkin (you can check out her work on instagram). Charlie mixed up a batch of pink paint , more than she needed, then passed it onto me to use. Sometimes it's something as simple as this that leads to a particular painting. The title, A Parting Touch, captures the delicate feel of a petal....like the brush of finger tips as you say goodbye.
