Influence: Living in my area by the beach are everyones little “friends”…the seagulls. We all know what a nuisance they can be when you are having lunch on the beach, creeping up one by one until before you know it, you have a whole flock of hungry beady eyes staring at your tasty food. They are also fascinating creatures and it just wouldn’t be the same without them flocking, squawking and just hanging around our beautiful beaches. If you are feeling lonely, fear not, just head to the beach with a bucket of chips and you’ll have dozens of “friend” around you in no time.
I particularly like the Australian Silver Gull with its white head, tail and underparts, with a light grey back and black tipped wings. In the adult birds the bill, legs and eye-ring are bright orange red. Some would argue and say their eyes are sinister and evil looking but I think its a matter of perspective. If you saw one diving for your chips, Im sure it would look a tad sinister.
This painting depicts the start of a flock settling on a moaring deck. There wait is one of anticipation as they are fully aware in only a short time, beach goers will be flocking down to the shoreline with hopeful nibbles.
This piece of art is a bold realistic painting. Its strong colours demand attention as you focus in on those five silver Gulls settling in the deck. The birds are set in the foreground to add life and the suggestion of movement from two of the gulls gives you the idea of their habits.
Suited to just about any room in your home or even office, this piece will sure to add a sense of calm and serenity.
