A crazy experiment in mixed media and different gloss levels. Aerosol, housepaint, acrylic, Japanese black varnish and oils on canvas. You have to see it in person to appreciate the contrasting sheens and reflections. The black varnish in the background is dripped into strands and pools which are extremely reflective and glow a bright gold in different lights. I also used this medium for her pupil, which makes it look like shes following you. The rest of the face contrasts this with a matt satin finish. Its a very dynamic piece that changes with the light in a room and im glad it worked out after days of frustration and what i thought at the time were mistakes!
