The large scale of this work is intent on causing contrast between the actual size of the blue fairy wrens that sit on the fence outside my studio window. They hold still for that split second before dashing off to the next section of the fence. Usually, I paint in abstracted colours to really give a presence to the subject matter, however, I feel that the wren with its neon blue feathers does that on its own, hence the almost true to reality preference of colour palette. Finished and Framed in raw Tasmanian Oak.
