Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

The work is painted on both sides of the canvas, the second image is the the back of the work. It is not my intention that the work be framed but hangs as a tapestry as it is unstretched canvas. It will be sent with hanging system in place.

This work is based on observations of the Australian landscape, in particular the aqueous worlds around my home in Eastern Sydney. It was made following a winter in lockdown spent snorkeling and being immersed in the everchanging, utterly alive underwater world. Polyp navigates the terrain between paint as a medium with agency and living textural life found in aqueous environments. Fish scales, rock polyps and seaslugs all are a form of spacial knowing and navigation, and I draw from the cumulative effect of being in relationship to these critters.
