'Figures 1', 2018

'Figures' No. 1' is the first in a two part series exploring the figurative form within abstraction. The painting is a large scale interpretation of a sketch I did during a life drawing class, where we were instructed to sketch the model with our eyes closed. We were only given 1 minute to complete the sketch, resulting in vigorous and slightly frenzied line work.

'Figures No.1' takes inspiration from the shape and curvature of the models figure, whilst exploring how these shapes can be abstracted and meshed together to create something new.
