'Wild Femme', by Aimee Rytenskild, depicts a female figure engulfed within a sea of Australian Native Flowers (gum leaves, gum nuts, banksias etc). The female figure holds a kookaburra, and holds the gaze of the viewer. Her hair is wild and stringy, reminiscent of tree roots, representing her oneness with nature.
As a predominantly abstract painter, I have recently been inspired to create more figurative and representational works, as a way to more directly communicate subject matter. This painting explores the intrinsic relationship between societies associations/projections of femininity and the environment, epitomised by the concept of 'mother nature'.
'Wild Thing' will add a pop of colour to any space, as well as generate conversation amongst its viewers. It features a soft orange background, with pops of red, white and green throughout, suiting a variety of colour palettes.
