During a joint exhibition with a painter friend of mine, we exchanged insights into the way that we work and how we are inspired. I told her about how I am often presented with items from nature that my mother finds interesting. I take them and investigate them with my macro lens to see what I can discover.
The following week this artist friend brought me two single strands of different types of grass. They seemed so simple, I was intrigued with what I could make of it.
I often use shadow and/or reflection to provide a continuance of the pattern and it worked especially well here, adding shape and depth. This image went into that exhibition as a limited edition of 25, and here is the second available print.
