Most of my work is a deliberate focus on and celebration of femininity. This series was developed in 2019 for my exhibition 'The Mother Wound' as a contrast to the many female subjects I had depicted in my other work. This series is an exploration of aggression and fragility looking at the ways in which anger can fragment and distort us. Works from this series were awarded the Law Society of NSW Artists' Choice Award in 2019. I paint the general shape in acrylics without planning or sketching and then hand-stitch details over the dry paint to break and disturb the surface.
