This piece is Unframed.

I worked on this painting a series of evenings when my children were asleep. The song Fa La Ninna which we had been played on Playschool during the day, kept going through my head as I was painting... Sleep, my little ones, sleep - so mummy can paint.

Quite unlike a lullaby, this painting is full of energy and vibrant colours, to capture that limitless vitality and curiosity about the world that young children seem to have. Short bursts of intense activity, hot headed temper tantrums, sparks of sibling rivalry ... All tempered by mum's cool blue calm (at least at the start of the day), reassurance, and sometimes her mere physical presence.

Well, these were my influences for this painting, but I encourage you to use your imagination to see and feel different things when you look at it - put your own stamp on it, as it were.
