Artwork Description

Waiting for the Waves is the second in a series of "birds eye view" paintings of a tropical beach. It is inspired by the magic view of the beach at Port Douglas as seen from the air as you fly into land.

All art by Angela Wilson

At the end of summer the water is low in the creek. A clump of trees and canna lilies thrive in a rocky outcrop. As the last of the sun’s heat and light recedes, the coloured leaves appear illuminated and their reflected colours sparkle in the water. This painting on canvas was constructed using moulding paste to build up areas of gold leaf reflections and the birds wingspans. Ink was used to highlight the wing tips. The aim in careful placement of the elements of sky, sea and birds was to achieve a unity and an aesthetically pleasing quality at first glance.(CreativeWork) Swash by Angela Wilson. Acrylic.
