Depression and mental illness is a complex problem of our age, often referred to as the 'blues'. The organisation Beyond Blue features a butterfly in its logo, due to the creature's ability to emerge as a beautiful winged insect after going through dark stages within the confines of a cocoon. The work is constructed with layers of resin, paint and collage, and the frame is attached by means of the resin.
