I was inspired by my visit to the Colours of Impressionism exhibition at the Adelaide Art Gallery to paint a vase of flowers on a dark midnight background. I chose stocks which were kindly given to me by the florist at Bohemian Garden in Mount Pleasant, SA. These pretty and fresh stocks are contrasted against the rich dark hues of midnight blue and paynes gray. The pallet knife enabled me to create a rich textured raised strokes which shaped the small petals of the stocks with pastel lavender and light blue. The painting is undercoated with metallic gold which gives the painting a rich luxurious finish which would add to the ambience of any room. Perfect for a bedroom with muddy atmosphere, a fresh kitchen or dining room.
