Signed on the front.

I was inspired by my visit to the Colours of Impressionism exhibition at the Adelaide Art Gallery to paint a vase of flowers on a dark background. I chose stocks, which are pretty and fresh contrast against the rich dark hues.

The painting is dominated by a large blossom that is opening its petals to the sun, the sun is kissing the edges of the petals giving the painting a soft white central glow, set against a deep midnight blue and maroon background. Five unopened blossoms come forward from behind the central blossom which are warm with a reddish orange and peach hue. The painting is finished off with hints of metallic gold paint, and gold edges.
