ummertime in Australia means spending all day at the beach- playing in the sand, swimming in the waves, and sunbathing. The youthful colors of pink, blue, yellow, and purple work together to create a playful scene. Zoom in a bit closer, and the thick blobs of paint look like tiny beach-goers. This artwork was created with a palette knife and quality oil paints.
About The Collection:
The visual element of texture in art evokes an array of emotions for each individual. The 3 dimensional nature of an artwork provides an interesting viewing experience, especially as the moving light of day casts different shadows at every hour. With texture, the artwork comes to life through the bold strokes of each colour. The technique of using a palette knife to thickly apply paint is called ‘Impasto’. This technique creates the sense that the paint is coming out of the canvas.
Artworks that have been created with the Impasto technique carry a strong physical presence. Personally, this is an emotional and expressive manner of creating for myself as an artist. My hope is that these artworks inspire creativity and evoke joyful emotions of spontaneity, freedom, and intrigue.
