I painted the Tiki in an intuitive way with acrylic Inks and acrylic paints onto Canvas stretched over 1.5cm timber frame. I then identified areas to which I added meaningful Maori Symbols and Patterns.
In the Maori legend it is believed, that Tiki was the first man and that he came from the stars. Tiki is a powerful good-luck symbol from ancient times. It is considered a symbol of fertility, representing the unborn human embryo. The tilted head is thinking, the hand represents strength, the mouth represents communication, the heart is love and the loins represent fertility. The owner of the Tiki is assumed to be clear-thinking, perceptive, loyal and knowledgeable. Their strength is their character. Tiki signifies abundance, plenty and good health.
The Painting has been varnished and strung at the back, therefore it is ready to hang.
