"Hard to Kill. Able to Live Almost Anywhere. Beautiful Survivor. Living Reminder of the Essence of What Remains of Our Sense of Humanity."
In Australia... Gazania Flowers are considered a "Noxious Weed" in Many Places. Because of their ability to grow and flourish under the most difficult growing conditions. In the poorest soils, during times of drought, in exposed locations and under the blazing sun. The very Reasons I admire them, aside from their splendid, colour combinations They are originally from South Africa I believe. Some plants grow low, in a dense mat and make a great ground cover. Some plants can grow 12" or taller when in bloom. Horticulturists have been hybridising this plant for years... you can find the flowers in all kinds of striking colour combinations. I've seen native Australian Mynah Birds, foraging through the mats... gathering insects hiding in the foliage to feed their hungry babies with, in their nests. Cool Flower.
