Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Roaring Firelight depicts the power and beauty that come from a bushfire raging down a hillside at night. It shows the destruction in its wake from the smoldering embers. Oil was the medium used in this work which allows the work to have some texture where the fire is burning brightest. I really enjoyed how the brush and the pallet knife worked to highlight the subject but also gave the painting movement. This work is best viewed from a distance as the eye is able to take in the whole scene and pick-up little details the longer you gaze.
