This painting is special to me. It is a piece from a series which connects me to this land of ours and with the deepest respect for the traditional custodians of this land. But in particular it is representational of a special native who visits us regularly – a kookaburra. The bird who has inspired this painting has lived near us for over 12 years. He has become so tame that we pat him and feed him worms and he even lets our 4 year old son pat him and feed him. As soon as we walk outside he is there, just watching to see if we might move a rock, do some gardening, or digging.
