Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the back.
A new painting in my Monopoly series. These paintings takes the imagery and design of the classic Monopoly boardgame, but transform and subverts the original with expressive brushwork, thick paint, and slightly surrealist text.
The text in this painting is the menacing totalitarian principle, which combines with the innocuous imagery to give the painting a humorous, absurd and cutting edge.
The paint is built up in many layers, with splashes and drips left visible. The surface is finished with a glossy varnish, and the sides of the canvas are painted black, so that it's ready to hang without needing to be framed.
A colourful, striking pop art image.
