Surrealist landscape. A great figure‚ based on the 3rd century BCE terracotta warriors‚ emerges from the desert sands. Two modern explorers bear witness‚ like petitioners at an ancient shrine. The prayer flags also suggest that this is a place of pilgrimage.
This painting continues my recurring theme‚ of trying to make sense of the uncanny.
The sky is a pale cobalt blue‚ while the 'warrior' was painted with yellow ochre‚ burnt sienna and burnt umber.
