This painting is part of a series which take the classic Monopoly board game as their starting point, but incorporate outside elements (in this case, the figures of Adam and Eve being expelled from Eden, as depicted by Masaccio in 1425). These outside elements introduce a bit of humour and chaos into the paintings - in Monopoly, and in real life, we can encounter the unexpected at every turn.
The paint is built up in layers, with visible splashes, drips and rough overpainting. The chaos of the brushwork forms a dynamic with the hard-edged design of the original.
I have had a lot of success with this series - the energetic paintwork, the well-known pop culture designs and references, the humour and the absurd pathos combine to create works that really draw attention.
