In Pictures: Icons Uncovered Exhibiton

Last week we invited you to our Melbourne exhibition, Icons Uncovered, at No Vacancy gallery in the city centre. We were overwhelmed by the turnout from our buyers, artists and supporters. It was a fun filled evening and great chance for all the bluethumb community to meet, have a few drinks and enjoy each other’s company. All the paintings were for sale and many sold during the opening to the delight of everyone involved. After all, that is the bluethumb mission – to help our artists sell more artworks to art lovers who will treasure them for a lifetime. Thank you to everyone who came along. Below is a photo gallery of the highlights.

Icons Uncovered

Icons play a key role in the aesthetics of everyday life. Embedded within each is a myriad of memories and meaning, different to each viewer, but safe, nostalgic and familiar to all. The diverse artistic practice in this showcase has a range of cultural references including fashion, politics, entertainment, literature and our relationship with natural and urban environments. These thematic undercurrents are at times amusing and always provocative, challenging the current state of affairs by forcing us to reconsider our positions.
