Bedroom Bliss with Koala and Bluethumb
Bluethumb office dog Grungle has had major surgery and been ordered to rest up for the next few weeks at home. To speed up his recovery, I’ve made sure his bedroom is as comfortable and relaxing as possible with the help of our friends at Koala, furniture makers for the digital age. Like Bluethumb, Koala have replaced old industry practices (e.g. overpricing and expensive showrooms) with a complete online experience, including fast delivery and easy free returns.

Koala Is Grungle Approved!
Grungle is now 10 years old and likes the finer things in life. Within moments of putting Koala’s All Seasons Sheets on my bed (after the ridiculously impressive same day delivery!), he knew exactly where he wanted to be. I already had both the Koala Bed Base and Koala Mattress, honestly the most comfortable and well designed bed I’ve ever owned, so was expecting a high quality product. The sheets do not disappoint.
Grungle was quick to try out his new sheets.
And it didn’t take long for him to get comfortable.
Before I knew it Grungle was fast asleep. This is highly unusual when I’m taking photos. He usually shakes thinking he’s in trouble!
Perfectly Complements My Bluethumb Art
I chose the gorgeous bluegum sheets to go with the colour palette of Sharon Monagle‘s Smith St Tuesday. Considering Grungle won’t be doing his daily walk down Smith St in Collingwood to Bluethumb HQ, I thought he’d also appreciate the familiar vibes the painting offers while he’s off work.
Smith St Tuesday by Sharon Monagle adds a little familiar hipster chic.
And goes perfectly with the bluegum sheets.
The Koala Bed Base
One of my favourite things about the Koala Bed Base is the space behind the headboard to store pillows. I like to sleep with just one pillow so now have a place to store the second. I also love the way the frame has holes for cables and is easy to clip reading lights to. It feels like it was designed especially for me. As with the sheets, there was same day delivery and it took minutes to put together.
The headboard feels like it was made just for me. Grungle is indifferent.
The Bedroom Makeover Is Totoro Approved Too!
Grungle’s sister Totoro, a giant Maine Coon, is another discerning customer and only chooses the finest places in the house to hang out. She couldn’t resist the new silky smooth sheets and joined us for the photoshoot. Photographers (and anyone who lives with animals) will tell you it’s near impossible to get two animals cooperating when you’re taking photos. I think it’s a testament to just how comfortable the complete Koala bed set really is that I got these shots!

The Koala Mattress
The rumours are true about the Koala Mattress. It’s firm, but soft, and saves on arguments. I’ve never tested jumping on it with a glass of wine balanced next to me (as a couple do in Koala’s viral ad), but my husband and I no longer wake each other up in the middle of the night from tossing and turning. As we got the king size there’s also plenty of room for Grungle and Totoro to get an undisturbed night’s sleep too.
