Inspired by my natural environment and the amazing photography of Nadia Culph. First in the Australian gum nut painting series. Most people focus on the glorious gum blossoms but the gum nuts are boldly beautiful as well. They are iconically Australian and evoke rustic memories.
For me, the gum nut and gum leaf are not dull background flora but are, strong, resourceful and vivid items. I love the uniqueness of Australian flora and they will always hold a special place in my heart.
