Julia the sweet little Orange-Bellied Parrot is about the same size as a budgie but, like the Swift Parrot, only breeds in Tasmania and migrates back across Bass Strait to the mainland for winter. Climate change, habitat loss and disease have all had detrimental effect on the population numbers with less than 50 individuals in the wild. Captive breeding programs are in full flight to save Julia and her family from extinction.
