Acrylic on canvas, ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
This artwork was inspired by the colours of the Coral Sea and the sunburnt skies of Masthead Island. I was lucky enough to discover this little piece of paradise late last year, which inspired a love for painting all of Queensland's best seascapes and landscapes. Masthead Island is one of the most undisturbed cays in the Capricorn Cays. The island is an important rookery for seabirds and turtles alike, and is surrounded by coral reefs inhabiting an array of marine life. Imagine banks of crystal blue water rippling over exposed corals and lapping at your feet. Or a sunset stretching as far as the eye can see, saturating the skies with hues of purples and oranges. Think for a moment how beautiful the world is when you remove everything that complicates it. This is what I tried to capture when signing my name to this sunburnt canvas.
