When I think of iconic places in Queensland, Fraser Island is the first place that comes to mind. I was lucky enough to visit Fraser Island for the first time in my life in April this year, and was blown away by the beauty found on the largest sand island in the world. In the Butchulla peoples' language, Fraser Island was known as K'gari - meaning paradise. This couldn't be further from the truth. Fraser Island is the only place in the world where rainforests grow on sand dunes. With four wheel driving territory and some of the best beach fishing in the world, Fraser Island really is a place of adventure. I painted this picture after our holiday, and think it captures Fraser Island in one picture. Queensland is a land of unbelievable beauty that inspires exploration - all at our backdoor.
