DUNE AWAKENING

I set out to visit the site of my subject early one morning whilst staying on Rottnest Island. I have been drawn to the forms of the humble sand dune for many years and continue to find the contours fascinating and sculptural qualities perfect in every discovered creation. The following prose best sums up my preparation and considerations for this new work.

Creating the first steps of this day
Across a fresh carpet of sand;
Artist’s awareness of
Nature’s canvas of such timeless beauty;
New sculptural forms, textures and contours;
Lyrical lines carved by the wind,
Shadows anchored by wispy shrubs.
Some gnarled and spent.
Fresh, flowing water, lapping at the shore.
Standing in awe,
Silence is golden.
My gift revealed through the layers
On a canvas,
