I painted this painting of Yellow wattle from a photograph I took at an artist retreat I went on in Tasmania. I was staying at Rathmore in Hollow Tree just outside Hobart. This beautiful antique vase of yellow wattle were on display on the bay window in the formal dinning room of the main house and the Silver teapot and dinner gong belonged to the owner's grandmother. I was so inspired and learnt so much from this retreat that I had to paint this picture to express it. The small wattle flowers were so bright and happy that I couldn't resist painting them. I also used this painting to experiment painting in a more impressionistic style rather than my usual, highly detailed and realistic style.
