About

I grew up in the Australian bush. I have always had a strong affinity with nature and I think my artwork is strongly influenced by the calmness of being out in the landscape. I have studied drawing and painting at the Adelaide Central School of Art, National Art School and the Charlie Sheard Studio School of Oil Painting - both in Sydney. I have also studied a lot of art history - most recently completing a Master Museum Studies at University of Sydney.
My first love is still-life painting - influenced by Rembrandt, Chardin, Morandi, Cezanne. I feel a sense of grace and intimacy when I set up a composition of everday objects and immortalise them in oil paint on a canvas. From time to time I also like to play around with landscapes and recently have launched into big colour abstractions.
I work as an artist/educator at the University of Sydney and a guide at the Art Gallery New South Wales.
My creative time is spent between my studios at Bondi and my organic farm in the Upper Hunter Valley.
I have exhibited in galleries in Sydney for many years and my work is held in private collections here and overseas.
