The ancient Greeks & Romans considered grapes to be a gift from the Gods. This luscious fruit almost always featured in the old “Masters” paintings and is a popular still life subject for artists everywhere. I have always had a fascination with their beauty, particularly as they hang like pendulums from the vine.
This painting has had many layers of overlapping coloured glazes and is also heavily textured.
