Living in Plenty Victoria we have an abundance of wildlife visiting us. In particular, the fox is always lurking around our garden. Of course he is pulled in by the prospect of capturing one of our chickens, but he has become such a frequent guest that he no longer attempts to lurk and hide. I constantly see his crimson coat walking across the yard, and one day I actually ran out onto the varandah to see his graceful saunter, instead of running away, he just stood there, almost as if purposely tempting a stare-off. This painting was inspired by his assured and dignified stance, as he conveyed his status.
