Artwork Description

As part of the Art in the Open exhibition in collaboration with the 5 Lands Walk this full sheet watercolour painting was inspired by a group of children at the end of the day in the late afternoon light around a bonfire at North Avoca Headland. Live music was playing, and I sat to do a quick painting of a bell tent which was stunning in the side light. The children playing around the fire kept drawing my attention as it reminded me of growing up and rough camping in the times where we would keep a campfire going all day and night for meals and boiling the kettle and water to have a birdbath with. This scene could have been me and my cousins any Easter holidays at Yuraygir National Park.

watercolour painting of Degas bronze sculpture called Little Fourteen-Year-Old DancerI was keen to capture the moment between these two ladies as they sat on the base of a statue in a square in Granada. They chatted and scrolled their phones, the epitome of this new generation.Watercolour painting inspired by the ghost gum trees. I love exploring the shadows and colours on the trunks of these trees. Watercolour painting of a wave crashing into a rock. Inspired by the movement and power of the water at my local beach.
