This painting is based on a sculpture by Frank Gaylord which depicts St Francis bending over and looking at a bird on the ground. The bird is gazing up at him. My interpretation has the bluebird singing to St Francis as he bends down to listen. It is in the evening, and the moon is up, glowing like a halo around St Francis' head.
Nature is alive everywhere, as reflected in my use of natural materials in making the paint: botanical indigo, amethyst, rhodonite, and 16K gold leaf.
The painting is on canvas stretched over heavy, solid timber. It needs a wire across the back for hanging. If you would like me to attach it for you, please let me know prior to shipping.
