The lines and structures that form on the silt bed at Supply River at low tide are intricate and ephemeral. Tidal movements generate a confluence of rigidity, tractability and repetition. This work represents an abstracted experience of place, exploring both the vastness and intimacy of the waterway. This perennial river meets the Kanamaluka (Tamar River) in northern Tasmania. It is a fertile fresh water river where the ruins of an old mill built in 1825 can be found. Despite this colonial past, when I am there I contemplate its importance to Pakana Tasmanian Aboriginal people, where the local Toponymy country is part. Despite little history available due to British invasion the importance of place names in this area helps connect to the rich past of this land. In this work I combine physical observations of tidal movements with stylised representations of the surrounding topography.
