My walk in the Cania National Park Queensland is the place where the inspiration for this painting originated. On top of this hill , the spirit of the landscape captured my heart and I had to paint it. The rather forbidding rocky landscape grass trees or Xanthorrhoea cover the landscape. They cover much of the landscape in forested areas of Queensland. They don’t like to be transplanted and are a popular architectural landscape feature, so stunning . The many paint layers include impasto gel, as seen in the close up. I set out to paint an abstract landscape but I’m happy with the end result.
