Artwork Description

I dont always have a set idea when painting my horses. Many evolve along the way. My technique involves an accurate horse drawing then I pour paint and let the colours mix. Finally the whole painting is reworked to enhance what the pouring brings out. This painting would look great on any colour wall as the colours are fairly neutral.

Background reds and browns were first. In all my work I use charcoal to draw in my subject. then I rub most of the linework out just so I can see the edges. Then comes the paint. It is an organic process. Finally with an almost dry brush I place the light shafts over the whole work. In a mystical encounter, the horse and the bird engaged with each other in a spiritual dance, their energies intertwining, creating an ethereal harmony that transcended the boundaries of the physical world. My process is always organic, once I am satisfied with the drawing's accuracy. You will see in most of my work garden, floral and symbolic themes. I paint them into my subject's body. The symbolism is always about beauty and freedom.
