Artwork Description

In this work, again my focus is on the horse's attention - watching something. His neck is forward and his eyes are looking closely at something.
In the framed example a wide 10cm mount board surrounds the painting. If framed this way the painting would measure 49 by 62cm plus the width of the frame.
As the painting is A3 size it would also fit into a ready made frame - a very economical second option. These are available at most retail outlets.

All art by Christine Lawrence

Background reds and browns were first. In all my work I use charcoal to draw in my subject. then I rub most of the linework out just so I can see the edges. Then comes the paint. It is an organic process. Finally with an almost dry brush I place the light shafts over the whole work. In a mystical encounter, the horse and the bird engaged with each other in a spiritual dance, their energies intertwining, creating an ethereal harmony that transcended the boundaries of the physical world. My process is always organic, once I am satisfied with the drawing's accuracy. You will see in most of my work garden, floral and symbolic themes. I paint them into my subject's body. The symbolism is always about beauty and freedom.
