This is a set of three trilogy, painted in 2018 .
The price is for all three paintings.
I was fascinated in my early years by the old boat yards (Tarsanades), where fishing and commercial caiques would lay and be maintained.
Images and smells mixed with the sounds of voices and tools and the soft sound of the sea shifting on the shore.
Those images have followed me for decades, coming in and out of my thoughts at different times with a very strong nostalgia for those years, years of a very different world.
The strong smell of the coal-tar that was used for protection inside the bilges, in combination with turpentine, antifouling, undercoats and the enamels used.
Paints dropped and leaked on the cement or dirt floors of the yard year after year, created a colourful palette of paints.
There, the incredibly beautiful palette of colours, stuck in my mind and soul.
These series of paintings with the jet black backgrounds (the coal-tar) represent those memories.
I have tried to recreate those images for my psyche’s salvation! (the dropping and leaking of paints on the floor of the shipyards in different forms that accidently created aesthetical miracles!)
