Gouache on paper
Signed on the front.
I remember the first time I saw a superb fairy-wren. I had traveled to Kangaroo Island here in the south of South Australia and there he was a little flash of blue flitting around a bush. These little birds hardly sit still long enough to photograph so I am grateful to the photographers who can capture these little fellas so I have long enough to sketch them. The waratah flower thought it was the star of the painting until this little native bird came to visit. While I live in the suburbs and don’t have fairy-wrens in my backyard - how lucky we are in Australia to be only ever a short drive away to see these little gems.
