This charismatic seabird is a regular summer visitor to Australia breeding as it does in the Northern Hemisphere - in North America, Northern Europe and North-east Asia. This particular bird was seen at Lake Wollumboola near the town of Culburra Beach in the Nowra/Jervis Bay region.
I regularly paint Bar-tailed Godwits in this region . They too migrate to the Northern Hemisphere to breed and, in doing so, performs some staggering feats of endurance and navigation. More on this subject can be found in the description accompanying my godwit paintings on this site.
While I paint in several mediums and across a range of subjects bird painting is my special passion.
