Two Magpie Geese seen at Shortland Wetland Centre, Newcastle - just two minutes off the Newcastle to North Coast highway (Pacific Highway) and well worth a visit - good coffee and easy walking.
This large vocal goose is usually associated with Northern Australian - where it breeds in large
numbers. It is now comparatively unusual to see it as far south as Newcastle, NSW and is a good indicator of the current dry conditions across Australia (Sept 2018).
