My Grandmother immigrated to Australia in the very early 1900's. She was the keeper of family history & folklore. The ship she arrived on nearly sank three times during the two month voyage. She said the rough seas plus talk of Sirens/mermaids were behind their turbulent journey. This story has always stuck with me. When ever there was a severe storm looming towards the beach at her home in Manly, she would say, "The Sirens Are Calling".
