Artwork Description

Oil on canvas

Signed on the front.

The entrance to Akaroa Harbour on the Banks Peninsula in New Zealand's South Island. This is view from the hills above Wainui as sea mists rolled in from the Pacific. The harbour was formed by an ancient volcanic caldera and road access to Akaroa is over the rim of the crater. Akaroa was originally settled by French families and still celebrates its origins in French street and place names. Oil painting by Dai Wynn on canvas panel.
