“Red Rocks” is the sister piece to “Red hot sunset”
This piece evolved after taking some time away from the studio. I wanted to get back to more emotive and expressive painting with an uplifting feel to it, something that makes you think of sunsets and rainbows.
I wanted to capture the setting sun and how it feels to have that last bit of warmth on your face.
Lots of texture in the layering of this piece, I started with some dark natural colours to create depth before adding in my trademark palette.
Sometimes in life we forget to enjoy the little things and don’t always stop and take note of our surroundings and the stunning beauty to be found at every turn.
